Lowest States for Auto Insurance

In the United States, North Carolina has lower insurance rates that almost any other state. This was the news announced by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners when they released a new report.

The report that was released compares all fifty states in addition to the District of Columbia and their cost of auto insurance. The information was based on data gained in 2004. According to this data North Carolina was fifth lowest in the cost of auto insurance. Only two states that are east of the Mississippi River were able to rank in the top ten for lowest rates. Those being North Carolina and Maine which ranked tenth.

The only states that had auto insurance rates lower than North Carolina were North Dakota, Iowa, South Dakota and Idaho. The rest of the top ten list included Kansas, Wyoming, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Maine.

In North Carolina it is estimated that the average driver pays $597 for auto insurance premiums according to the report compiled by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. The states around North Carolina are Tennessee which ranked eleventh, Virginia which ranked eighteenth, South Carolina which ranked twenty-seven and Georgia which ranked twenty-eight on the final report complied and released by the NAIC.
