New Study on the Best Drivers
Many of the car insurance discounts go to the highly educated professionals such as doctors, lawyers and engineers. However, the better drivers according to a recent study are fire fighters and farmers. Students came up the worst drivers on the list according to the new study.
The Quality Planning Corp. which is a San Francisco based insurance research firm recently matched DMV records of 14 million auto insurance policies to reported incidents to come up with a study on the best and worst drivers according to occupations. The results of the study were shocking and not what most expected.
The top five occupations for accidents including student, medical doctor, attorney, architect and real estate agent. While the bottom five occupations for accidents included homemaker, politician, pilot, fire fighter and farmer. It is believed that students ranked the highest since they have less driving experience and many young students underestimate their own mortality. As a result students are often poor at driving compared to others.
However, the occupations changed once the study compiled information on those that get speeding tickets. This data showed that the top five occupations are student, enlisted military, manual labor, politician and architect. While the bottom five included teacher, secretary, law enforcement, librarian and homemaker. In this data the politician went from the bottom five to the top five.
