Bodily Injury Liability Coverage
Bodily Injury Liability Coverage is a form of automobile insurance designed to cover the costs incurred if the policy holder injures another individual in a car accident and is held legally responsible for said accident. The benefits of the Bodily Injury Liability Coverage will pay the medical expenses of the injured party and often that person's lost wages for the time of the incapacity relative to the accident. It is also possible that the Bodily Injury Liability Coverage will be of assistance should a lawsuit or other legal action be instigated against the policy holder as a result of the accident.
Normally the amount of coverage included for bodily injury liability is capped at limits that are determined during negotiation for the terms of the automobile insurance policy. Given the high number of lawsuits routinely filed in the United States today, many drivers in areas with heavy traffic, opt for this extra layer of protection on their vehicle insurance coverage.
