Funeral Benefits
As a part of some auto insurance policies, especially those policies that contain personal injury protection or first party benefits, there is an included clause for funeral expenses. If an individual covered by the terms of the policy dies from injuries sustained during an automobile accident, the insurance benefits will include at least a portion of the expenses of the funeral for that person.
Generally the degree of funeral coverage is determined subject to limits arrived at during negotiation of the policy's terms. The inclusion of funeral expenses is a reflection of the high cost of burial in the United States and can represent a significant benefit to a policy holder's family in the event of the individual's sudden and unexpected death. If available, the inclusion of funeral benefit might be of special interest to those individuals who spend a disproportionate amount of time in their vehicles commuting or traveling.
