Rear End Collision
A rear-end collision is a vehicular accident in which a vehicle strikes another vehicle in front of it. The most typical instance in which a rear-end collision occurs is when the first car suddenly decelerates or reduces speed without warning, for instance to avoid striking a pedestrian. The car in the following position does not have time to brake and so collides with the rear end of the first vehicle. A second common scenario typically occurs at an intersection when the following car accelerates more rapidly than the lead car and strikes it from the rear.Normally in such a collision the resulting mechanical damage is shared fairly evenly by both vehicles although physical injury to the driver of the car that was struck is normally worse since that individual had no warning. The condition known as "whiplash" is a common injury in such a collision and is caused by the driver's head snapping forward and then back suddenly and with considerable force.
