Rental Car Reimbursement
Many automobile insurance policies contain a clause providing for Rental Car Reimbursement. As a benefit of the policy, if the driver is deprived of the use of their vehicle due to an incident that causes damage and a repair period (or in the event of car theft), the insurance company will pay for the individual's expenses to rent a vehicle until their own has been repaired, replaced, or recovered.
Routinely the policy will state a period of days in which the Rental Car Reimbursement is valid. It is not uncommon, however, for this period to be negotiable if the holder of the insurance policy can prove to the company that the repair of their vehicle will take a longer period of time and if the reason for that extension can be verified as valid. This proof can usually be offered by presenting repair estimates from the body shop or auto mechanic employed to affect the repairs.
