Rollover
A rollover is a vehicular accident in which an automobile turns over on its side or roof. This is normally caused when the driver turns too sharply while traveling at a high rate of speed. Inertia operates on the car in the direction opposite to that of the turn and is combined with the force of gravity to the vehicle's center of mass which is driven outside the rectangle formed by the wheels. These combined forces cause the vehicle to begin flipping to the side.
A rollover can also occur as a result of a skid, when a driver is forced, for some reason, to jerk the wheel. A skillful driver can stop the rollover by stopping the turn and conventional wisdom holds that the driver should always steer gently and steadily away from the direction of a skid. Generally, the higher the center of the vehicle's mass the greater the chance of a rollover.
